Good Ole Toast

When we arrived here from the hospital Mom thought she would ease in to the 8 glasses of water ritual. When asked what that meant, she said, "Oh, you know, 4 glasses the first day, five the next, etc. " After yesterday morning's light-headedness, Mom got the message and started drinking water like a camel. As a result she only felt a little dizzy for a brief time in the afternoon. We even found some G2 at the Pig in town which she can drink in moderation (because it has sugar in it). My quest today will be to find some diet G2. Do they make that?

She still clings to the notion that she can have 'clear liquids' and wants to push the limits on what that means. But her body is telling her to drink water. Incredibly she seems to be listening. I think she had 8-10 glasses of 8 oz. yesterday. She also has a habit of crossing her legs while seated. This cuts off circulation to one or both legs, which can bring on the light-headedness, so Dad and I are always after her about putting both feet on the floor. Better yet, she should wiggle her feet and move them around while she's seated.

We also kept things a little lower key around here--eating in rather than Papa Joe's or The Owl and that seemed to help as well.

This morning she didn't exactly pop up like a cork, but she's feeling very good and even had a glass of water by her side table last night. She reported on several trips to the bathroom during the night and in one report got a little too graphic for my sensibilities and certainly for this blog.

Dad, of course, was up early tending to important matters, like retrieving the newspaper which, of late has been 'walking away' according to the Tallahassee Democrat subscription department. His morning routine is to make breakfast. When he presented a plate of freshly baked toast on the table Mom said, "Ohhhh, good ole toast."

Can't you just hear her?

Hope this little note finds you doing well. Feel free to give her a call--she would love to hear from everyone. Dad and I would love it too as it might alleviate some of her worries. She had a fine conversation with Marc yesterday which she talked about afterwards.
